Thank you Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk

Queensland’s State Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk talks with Holocaust survivor Dr Bert Klug, aged 100 in 2022.

The Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies president, Jason Steinberg, has thanked outgoing Premier,
Annastacia Palaszczuk, for her dedicated service and support for the Jewish community.

“Our community became actively involved with the Premier when she was Multicultural Minister in early 2009,” Mr Steinberg said.

“Back then, and throughout her time in office, she has always been interested in all aspects of Jewish life.

“She has been there for us during difficult times of antisemitism, but also in our celebrations like Chanukah.

“Under the Premier’s leadership, our community has seen tougher hate laws introduced and the establishment of the state’s first Holocaust museum to help educate Queenslanders about hatred.

“The personal commitment by the Premier to see Queensland open the Holocaust museum was very moving. To see her genuine interest with our survivor community and the pledge to ensure their voices are never forgotten has been very special.

“We wish her the very best in her next chapter.”
