Queensland Jewish Board Of Deputies
About the board
The Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies Inc. (QJBD) is the official roof-body of Queensland’s Jewish community and has proudly served as its voice since 1948.
Recognised by the Queensland State Government and its agencies, the media and interfaith organisations, the QJBD advocates on behalf of the Jewish community, ensuring its interests, welfare and status are safeguarded.
The QJBD is dedicated to fostering unity and connection within the Jewish community while also building bridges with the wider Queensland society. Safety, security and advocacy are at the forefront of its efforts, providing a strong foundation for Queensland Jewry to thrive.
Our key objectives are:
Providing a united and responsible Jewish voice that advocates for the community across all levels of government — Local, State and Federal.
Combating antisemitism and promoting a safe and secure environment for Jewish life in Queensland.
Creating forums for open dialogue where challenges and concerns can be addressed collaboratively and effectively.
Organising communal ceremonies and events, including functions for visiting dignitaries and community milestones.
Offering speakers on Jewish topics to schools, service clubs and other faith groups, fostering understanding and inclusivity.
Promoting knowledge and awareness of Jewish culture, history and traditions, while working toward harmony and goodwill with other religious, ethnic and cultural communities.
Through its commitment to advocacy, safety and connection, the QJBD continues to be a unifying force for Queensland’s Jewish community and a bridge to the broader world.
